Long time no blog
So I’ve been neglecting my precious blog for far too long. I’ve been taking pictures for it, but no updates have been happening. Its been a busy couple of months, and it will only get busier. Lincoln is growing up and he & girl cat are pretty much BFFs. ****EDIT: Darin has informed me that Lincoln & Girl Cat are, infact, NOT BFFs. Speaking of Lincoln, we had to...
Meet Lincoln!
Our new baby! He is 11 weeks old. Very playful and loves to lick your face clean. Girl Cat isnt impressed, shes a little afraid of him, but I think she will learn to love him. More pictures to come!
sketches
So, I found some type sketches from a while back. Finding these has definately encouraged me to some more explorations.
Muffins & Games
Last night, Darin and I started game night up again! I think it was a great first game night. We played Balderdash (one of my favorites), and Darin made muffins. They were sooooo good. Brent & I decorated them. YUM! I’m excited for the next game night. I want to use this chess board that my mom & dad gave me. Its made out of marble! I want to play it, but I left all the pieces back...
New book
Today I bought a new book. The Principles of Uncertainty by Maira Kalman. I LOVE THIS BOOK. While Darin and Alfred watched, Thrashin, I read the whole book. Sounds like a lot, but its all hand written over her paintings. Here are a few pages: I suggest that everyone read this book, its wonderful.
wedding
So the wedding is coming up, and now that I’m moved into Darins house, its planning time! First thing is to make save the date cards. So far I’ve made these stickers so people can mark their calendars. I bought an oval punch to make these, and just punched ovals out of sticker paper. Then I stamped each one with the bride and groom stamp. I found it at Michaels, and I love it! super...
Flag!
I found a website where you can make your own unique flag. I loved this idea, so I combined the flags of the US, Italy, and the Netherlands. I was born in the US, my fiancee is Italian, and I hold a place in my heart for the Netherlands. I traveled there recently and it was the best experience of my life. I got to work with famous designers, and I learned so much about the role of the graphic...
My Record Collection
I’ve recently started to collect records based on their covers. I’ve managed to find 3 great ones so far. The first one I found and bought for $1. This one is featured in A History of Graphic Design by Phillip Meggs (third edition, p.333). It was designed by Rudolph deHarak, a self-taught graphc designer who loved swiss design. This is part of a series of album covers for Westminster...
Interview with LUST
Me, Doug (Head of the Design department at CCS, Thomas, & Jeroen On October 24th, I got to interview studio LUST. They are a very progressive design firm, working in Den Haag. I participated in a workshop with them in July 2007. The week of October 22nd, LUST made their way to Michigan! I was so excited to see them again. Like I said, their design work is so amazing, very smart guys. The gave...
